The Oberon was relaunched in March 1999 as the Cask and Cutter. Gone is the frankly rather unwelcoming exterior, to be replaced by the striking blue finish shown above.Interior Photo

Inside, too, the changes are all for the better; and the end result is a really attractive and comfortable drinking pub. The main front room now has a light and airy feel, and the pool room behind has been nicely refurbished as well. Incidentally, not everything's changed from the Oberon. Regulars and lovers of good beer will be pleased to hear that Pauline's still in charge...

The pub dates back to 1879; though it's been in its present configuration only since the 1950s, when it re-opened following the repair of wartime bomb damage.
